Dr. Kahen received his MD from Ahwaz Jondi-Shapour University of Medical Sciences, a center of science, philosophy, and medicine dating back to ancient times (the Academy of Jondi-Shapour was founded in 666 AD). He completed a rotating internship at Firouzgar Medical Center (a Teaching Hospital) in Tehran before coming to the United States. He completed the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) Certification and passed the Federation Licensing Examination (FLEX) before being licensed as a physician by the CA Medical Board. He performed a Neurological Residency at the Wadsworth VA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA.
Currently Dr. Kahen is Medical Director of SAMG which operates primary care medical clinics and serves several thousand patients throughout Los Angeles. SAMG contracts with managed care organizations and governmental agencies responsible for care to members and beneficiaries. He is President of an Independent Practice Association, Board Chairman of an HMO and is Board Certified in Pain Management, Ambulatory Medicine and as a General Physician. He is Trustee for the Pacific Regional Chapter of the American Academy of General Physicians. He provides immigration related services (medical evaluations) for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
Bio
Dr. Kahen is the founder, developer, owner and medical director of South Atlantic Medical Group, Inc. (SAMG), a multi-clinic primary, preventive and specialty medical care practice operating throughout Los Angeles. SAMG provides and/or manages medical care for most general healthcare problems for all members of the family. SAMG offers General and Family Practice Medicine including well baby and child care, routine physical exams for women and men, minor surgery and care for most common illnesses. In addition, SAMG provides or arranges specialized services in Orthopedics, General Surgery, Gynecology, Pediatrics, Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.
Dr. Kahen co-founded South Atlantic Medical Group IPA Inc., an independent practice association of over 100 Los Angeles and Orange County primary and specialty care physicians. SAMGIPA contracts with Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), managed health care plans to serve their members. He is President and Board Member of SAMGIPA. Also, Dr. Kahen co-founded Honored Citizens Choice Health Plan (HCCHP), a Los Angeles based HMO. In 2005, HCCHP contracted with the Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide prepaid health benefits to Medicare Beneficiaries residing in Los Angeles. HCCHP plans to expand to Orange County by the end of 2006. He is designated by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) as a physician to perform medical evaluations for persons applying for US residency or citizenship.
